What made you decide to run for School Board?

Grant Relic was our attorney for more than 20 years, I worked just down the hall from him and many times we worked to provide solutions for clients, attended and hosted seminars together and had long discussions about our schools. He was a great example of service in our community and now it's my turn.  I FIRMLY believe that the position of school board member is, as defined by the state as "Primary lLiason" between the Community and the Superintendent.  I intend to stand and fill that gap of supporting both the Superintendent and the Community.

What makes you the best candidate for the School Board?

Being outside the SYSTEM is important, because it is a Board position not and administrative one in the schools.  Board members need to be able to bring options to the Superintendent  and the Chief Financial Officer that Administrators and Teachers do not have.  As an owner of multiple businesses and servicing and supporting many businesses, non- profits and foundations, etc.  It is important to have a "Broad Base"  of  knowledge, experiences and contacts that can be drawn upon to assist our Superintendent.  I have these things because I am not a professional teacher,  professional teachers graduate High School, go to college,  get certified to teach and return to the classroom.  As one candidate said, "She was a product of the system."  Teachers are skilled at teaching and are GREAT, but they are NOT SKILLED at working with Executive Leadership at the Superintendent level, C.F.O.'s,  Community Leadership and the Community at large on a daily basis to provide solutions.  I am

COMMUNICATION and PERCEPTION. Most Superintendents and School Boards know there is a disconnect between the system and the community. It shows up in the national news every day.  One of the primary responsibilities of the School Board Member is to be a liaison between the Superintendent and the community, bridging that gap in communication and perception, advising the Superintendent and the CFO.  This is currently not the case and my goal is to fill that gap.

I WILL SUPPORT our Students, Parents, Teachers and the Superintendent, to the best of my ability, without conflicts of interest and/or personal gain

Vision

My vision for this is simple, to honor the job working in the "Gap" between the Superintendent and the community.
